**NLD U17/18/19 and Colts Leagues Meeting**

**Change of Date **

The forthcoming meeting for the NLD Leagues is now being held Monday 25 January at 7.30pm rather than Tuesday 2 February as previously advertised.

Dear Colleague,

Firstly please accept my apologies for changing the date of this meeting after it had already been announced.  I feel that now is the best time for us to debate a strategy for implementing community rugby’s strategic objective of increasing the number of adult players in clubs.

Today the route from junior to senior rugby is having difficulties.  Large mini and junior sections are not always translating into strong adult sides and managing the transition from U16 - U19 rugby into senior sides is a task that all clubs need to address in the coming years.  The RFU have noted that “clubs are where recruitment and retention activities come to life” and are changing the working practises of RDO’s to provide more support to clubs.

It is our aim at NLD to provide clubs with the structure and support net work to run the types of exciting and challenging competitions in which both clubs and players wish to compete.  While it is impossible to please every club and player this is your chance to get involved and let us know what you would like to see in NLD U16–19 rugby in the coming years.  I have therefore asked Barry Ricketts, Chair of NLD’s U17-24 Group to host this meeting on 25 January at the Saracens Head Hotel in Southwell.

It is important that at least one representative of your club is present at the meeting to express your clubs views however if you are unable to attend please send the completed questionnaire (attached) so that we are able to atke your views into account.

Please send confirmation of your attendance / apologies to nldrfu@therfu.com along with the completed questionnaire which you can have discussed with your club by 18 January 2010.  This will help form the basis of the agenda for the meeting.

Once again, apologies for the confusion with dates and I look forward to seeing you all there.  If you wish to discuss the Leagues with me prior to the meeting please do not hesitate to contact me on 07906 158125 or the Newark Office on 01636 640800.
